《棱角》早前報道，有移英港人在成功領取強積金後，收到英國稅務及海關總署（HM Revenue & Customs，HMRC，下稱稅務署 ）通知，有「香港政府部門」（Hong Kong goverment sector）向當局舉報港人有未申報「海外資產或收入」。然而，英國與香港早在2010年已簽下《避免雙重課稅協定》，明確指出英國不可就強積金徵稅。有前立法會議員向《棱角》表示，港府有機會透過通報機制向外國政府提供資料，惟英國和香港均不會就強積金徵稅，形容港府做法多此一舉。
