Last week, there have been reports of anonymous letters that encouraged the bounty hunting of Carmen Lau — HKDC’s Senior International Advocacy Associate who has been targeted with a HK$1M bounty by the Hong Kong SAR Government. Joshua Reynolds, a Liberal Democrat MP for Maidenhead, condemned these harassment and intimidation tactics, and urged the U.K. Government to offer stronger protections for Hong Kong dissidents and activists facing transnational repression. He emphasized that such actions undermine the safety and freedoms of those seeking refuge in the U.K. from Hong Kong’s oppressive regime.
